Water / Pore Pressure

Remote Stainless Steel Instrumentation Enclosure

GEO´s Remote Stainless Steel Instrumentation Enclosure is a circular waterproof enclosure canister that is able to hold the battery, logger and telemetry for remote monitoring of many instruments, including multiple Piezometers. Use GEO-Instruments Remote Stainless Steel Instrumentation Enclosure for subsurface insulation and protection of your monitoring instrumentation. It is great for below grade applications used in conjunction with GEO-Instruments heavy duty lid link assembly.

Vibrating Wire Piezometer

The Vibrating Wire Piezometer is designed for accurate and long term measurement of pore water pressures in fully or partially saturated soil and rock. This is particularly useful in estimating slope stability, safe placement rate of fill or excavation, design and build for lateral or uplift pressures or buoyancy, monitoring the performance of earth-fill dams and embankments, seepage and verifying models of flow, monitoring surface water run-off, water levels at contaminated sites etc.

Standpipe Piezometers

Standpipe Piezometers offer a simple and economic method for measuring water pressures in soil and rock. Typical applications include monitoring of water pressures for the control or assessment of stability of natural or cut slopes, performance of vertical drains, sand drains, and dynamic compaction, dewatering and drainage schemes, performance of earthfill dams and embankments, containment systems at landfills and tailings dams, seepage and ground water movements in embankments, landfill dikes and dams, and uplift pressures in dams or other foundations when fitted with a Bourdon Gauge.

Heavy Duty Vibrating Wire Piezometer

The Heavy Duty Vibrating Wire Piezometer is designed for long term monitoring and accurate measurement of pore water pressures in fully or partially saturated soil and rock. The heavy duty Stainless Steel casing protects the Vibrating Wire transducer from high external stresses.

Hydraulic Piezometers

For the measurement and control of water pressures in soil and rock, the Hydraulic Piezometer is able to measure both positive and negative pressures. Typical applications include construction control and stability monitoring of embankments, earth dams and their foundations, uplift pressures and hydraulic gradients in dam foundations and abutments, in-situ measurements for permeability changes and evolution. Borehole and push-In types available.

Pneumatic Piezometers

The pneumatic piezometer is mechanically simple, inexpensive, reliable and robust. It avoids many of the problems associated with electrical instrumentation. Elevation differences between the installed tip and the reading point are of no direct significance; readings are of the pressure at the tip and no further arithmetic reductions are necessary. The system is capable of operating over relatively long lengths of connecting tubing although the reading cycle becomes progressively slower as the distance increases. Installations are possible in horizontal and upward vertical boreholes.

Water Level Meters

Ideal for measuring the depth of water in standpipes, wells and boreholes. The Water Level Meter or Dipmeter comprises a Stainless Steel sensor probe fitted to a flexible graduated cable, wound on a hand reel containing a transistorised switched circuit, audio indicator and battery.

V-Notch Weir Monitor

The V-Notch (triangular) Weirs are typically installed in open channels such as streams to determine discharge (flow rate). The main component is a cylindrical weight suspended from a vibrating wire force transducer. As the water level changes, the changing buoyancy force on the cylinder acts directly on a vibrating transducer. The V-Notch Weir Monitor is ideally suited to the long term monitoring of dams and drainage systems in dams, tunnels, springs and artesian wells. Additionally, it is easy to automate with data acquisition and monitoring software.
